New Look Using 120 Eyeshadow Palette

This is a look from monroemisfitmakeup on YouTube that I recreated using my Manly 120 Eyeshadow Palette that I got from Ebay.

Monroemisfitmakeup has great looks. I copied this look by looking at a photo of the look. Couldn't find a tutorial so I did the best I could.

Laziness has just struck me. I am in no mood to list everything that I did or the products used. So sorry. Maybe I will at another time. Okay, here's a partial list: NYX false lashes, MAC Shadestick in Beiging, Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner in Radium, Urban Decay Primer Potion.

The 120 Eyeshadow Palette is wonderful. It has matte, pearl, shimmer and ultra shimmer eyeshadows. The colors are very pigmented. I just dab my brush into an color and far too much color gets on the brush. I think this is a great palette to own and I highly recommend it.

NYX Loose Pearl Eyeshadows

These are the pearl loose eyeshadows I got during the NYX 50% off sale. They are:

Very Purple

Sorry no swatches. They are coming soon. These are great, heavily pigmented colors. I now own all of the pearl eyeshadows. About 30 of them, maybe more. They're only $1. They are very shimmery so I don't wear them everyday.

I put them in 5 gram jars with sifters that I got from Ebay.

NYX Candy Glitter Liners

Sorry about the fuzzy photo of the swatches. I really did the best I could. All together they were $10. Can't beat that. I've heard that the glitter liners without the tassels are crap. I'm not too crazy about the red one and I wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't so cheap. Will be posting looks with these at some point.

MAC Collections

I don't follow the collections that MAC releases. Sometimes, I'll check Temptalia to see photos of the pretty packaging on the new products and some swatches but I never buy any of it. The stuff is expensive and I own enough makeup all ready. So you'll probably never see photos of this stuff on this blog. There are plenty of makeup blogs on the internet where you can check out the upcoming collections if you're interested.

Great Tip For Applying Glitter To Eyes

I learned this tip from EnKoreMakeup on YouTube. A great way to apply glitters over eyeshadow is to use an old brush or one you don't care too much about that is kind of small and dab a very thin layer of false eyelash glue where you want to apply the glitter. Dab the glitter with the brush over your eyelid very gently. I used the glue that dries clear. It worked beautifully. I had almost no fallout.

New Look With Reflects Turquatic

I've been dying to use my Reflects Turquatic Glitter from Mac. When my mother saw me she said I had too much blue on my eyes but I love it. Its definitely more of a going out to the club look. The camera doesn't do it justice because you can't really see the glitter in the photo. I thought the flash and all the lights I had on would reflect the glitter. It didn't. Oh, well.

I bought Reflects Blackened Red from a Mac Pro store in Manhattan. The rest I got from www.thebodyneeds.com where I get all of my Mac pigment samples.

Reflects Antique Gold is the most beautiful glitter I've ever seen. I was absolutely amazed. It looks like a dull gold color until you put it under the light. Then it reflects a myriad of beautiful colors. I can't wait to use it. I thought it was the most unique thing I'd ever seen until I went to my local beauty store and saw Soo Nail Polish in Rainbow Gold $1.99 which is an exact dupe. So I bought it.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Studio Brush Set Review

These are my E.L.F. Studio Brush Set and my makeshift Sephora inspired brush holder. I put numbers on the brushes but you can't see them because the pictures is so small.

Here they are from left to right:

They're very soft (but not too soft) and they look great. I really like them. They're good brushes. They were $15 during their 50% off sale. I think they are worth it. I have so many brushes that I've found different uses for these brushes. I use the powder brush for contouring my face and I use the powder brush for blush. I use the fan brush for my powder because I tend to be heavy handed and I always end up overpowdering with a regular powder brush.

Can't compare these or any brushes to MAC brushes because I don't own any. I'll only buy MAC brushes if I can write them off on my taxes or they will miraculously expertly apply my makeup every single morning all by themselves without me even having to get out of bed.

I saw a video on YouTube about how to make a brush holder like the ones in Sephora. I never found the small round balls or whatever those things are called so I just used popcorn. I've also used couscous but I like popcorn better. I know it sounds crazy but its working for me.

Curls, Curls, Curls

As you can see from the photo, I have naturally curly hair. And I love curly hair. I don't use a lot of products. Mostly just hair gel and I wash my hair with conditioner. I learned how to care for my curls by reading a terrific book on curly hair: Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey. Here are some excellent tips from a review of the book that I found on Amazon:

1) During the conditioner wash, cover all the hair w/conditioner, then gently comb out. I comb my hair in the direction I plan to style it. Combing is necessary for kinky hair, unless you are cultivating dreadlocs.

2) Shake your hair a little once you've conditioned for step 3 (kinky ringlets sometimes need a bit of room to shape up.)

3) Massey says silicones weigh hair down. Silicones can't weigh down virgin kinky hair, but they will eventually turn your hair into a shiny, dead mess. They also resist removal by even super-stripping shampoos, so use a non-silicone conditioner with as few ingredients as possible.

4) I have dandruff, but it is under control even after many weeks on Massey's technique. I use the brown sugar scalp scrub every week. Dandruff scalps benefit from more exfoliation. Also, you can substitute cider vinegar for the lemon juice in her Lemon-Aid potion. I have a small spray bottle of vinegar in the shower and i spray some right onto my oily scalp prior to step 2. Oily scalps just need to do the scalp cleansing step more often than Massey indicates. It is not drying.

5) I use inexpensive conditioners by VO5 and CureCare (a beauty supply store brand with 5 ingredients) and have not suffered from a dull look on my hair. Learn to read labels. Try a conditioner which says it's designed for use as body moisturizer.

6) Feel free to add some olive or sesame oil to a dab of conditioner if your hair seems to crave extra. I never use gel, but i gently put this mix through my hair, when needed.

I had to learn how to do my own tips and acrylic nails about 2 1/2 years because I was broke. I was surfing the web and saw a picture by a woman who does her own nails and weaves. So I figured I could do my own nails, too. I'm still not that great at it but I'm getting better and saving loads of money. Every once in awhile I'll go to the salon and get my nails done. I order all the supplies online. I also found a store in LA where I got a lot of stuff. So here are some pics. Enjoy.

I did this look following this makeup tutorial on how to do Harajuku Makeup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5v2v9HHfKk. I followed everything he did in the tut. I used similar colors in my 120 Eyeshadow Palette that I bought on Ebay, MAC Fluidline Blacktrack and MAC Chartreuse Pigment. The colors are more vibrant. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Recently E.L.F. Cosmetics had a 50% off sale on their Studio Line. Now, for those of you who don't know, ELF sells makeup for $1. Yes, that's right, $1. But their Studio Line is a little more and its better quality.

I bought a set of Studio Makeup Brushes. Great quality and I'm so pleased with them. I like them much better than the $1 brushes that I bought. I will post a review and pictures soon.

NYX False Eyelashes

Not too long ago NYX Cosmetics had a sale for 30 pairs of false eyelashes. I now own enough false eyelashes to last me for the rest of my life. Yippeee!!! Not sure if this sale is still going on but they are now having a 50% off of everything on their site sale. So I bought more stuff. Will post a pic of the goodies when they arrive.
